Today host Sarah Abo has introduced her newborn baby to the country live on-air.

The breakfast TV star vanished from the Channel 9 show earlier than expected after being hospitalised with high blood pressure.

But she reappeared on Today as a special guest on the show, with all of her colleagues, including Sylvia Jeffries, David Campbell and Richard Wilkins, being overjoyed at the news.

She revealed Sonny was born last week and they’ve been cherishing some private time with him.

“He was in the middle of feeding – he’s in a little mood. But he’s fine now,” Sarah said to her colleagues.

Sarah said the family have been in their own little bubble since Sonny’s arrival, and that she couldn’t imagine life without him.

“This is our world, and everything’s so special. Nothing else matters,” she said.

Sarah also thanked everyone in the hospital who had helped her get through the last two weeks.

She said that his arrival had been a bit of a bumpy ride, and she was only just supposed to be going on maternity leave now to prepare for his arrival.

Sarah also apologised to fans of the breakfast television show for not being able to say goodbye properly.

Fans and friends were quick to wish Sarah well for the massive news.

“Congratulations, beautiful soul, so beyond happy for you. Hope you’re both doing well,” said one.

“So happy for you, enjoy these special moments,” added another.

Sarah’s journey to motherhood

Sarah announced her pregnancy in March, with the 39-year-old admitting it had been a difficult journey to get pregnant after losing a baby last year.

But she was overjoyed to share that she was expecting once again.

“It’s not as easy as you I suppose sometimes think that pregnancy will be,” she said at the time.

“It has been a bit of a bumpy ride, but here we are, and yes, it’s getting harder to hide.

“As much as I’d like to bury my head in the sand and not address it. We’re almost halfway now, so things are going well. And, yeah, so it’s good.”

Sarah revealed that she and Cyrus went through “test after test” before they told their respective families.
