These are the highest-spinning golf wedges of 2026

Every golfer wants more stopping power around the greens, so we tested all the key wedges of 2026 to discover which models generated the most spin on full swings and pitch shots.

Spin is one of the biggest reasons golfers invest in a premium wedge.

More backspin can help approach shots stop quicker, pitches and chips grab faster, and give players greater control around the greens – but not every wedge delivers the same results.

To find out which models generate the most spin, we tested 15 of the best new wedges of 2026 indoors at Foresight Sports Europe using a Foresight GCQuad launch monitor.

Our testing pro hit full shots to a 105-yard target and pitch shots to a 70-yard target with 52° versions of every wedge, allowing us to compare average backspin under identical conditions.

The results threw up some fascinating findings.

On full swings, the Cobra King was comfortably the highest-spinning wedge in the test, producing an average of 9,631rpm. That’s more than 700rpm ahead of its nearest rival and over 2,000rpm more than the lowest-spinning model.

While now in their second year, Cobra’s King series of wedges show no signs of stopping.

One of our best wedges for data testing in both 2025 and 2026, Cobra are doing as good a job as possible to attract golfers to a brand that many might not associate with quality short game tools (or anyone that doesn’t remember the Trusty Rustys, at least).

The King wedges have a very different feel due to their MiM (Metal-injection Molding) construction, but the method bears tremendous fruit when it comes to producing consistency in performance across the face.

Our only concern is in the shaping of the wedge, with testers feeling more comfortable over classic looks compared to the slightly longer and taller King model.

“Cobra are such an underrated brand in every category – which still seems odd to say with their success! Control is awesome with the King wedges, and it’s easy to keep the ball flight consistent on all the shots I want to play.”

The Cobra King was the standout performer on full swings, becoming the only wedge in the test to break the 9,500rpm barrier.

Perhaps the biggest surprise, however, was the position of the Vokey SM11. Titleist’s wedges are comfortable the most played on professional tours around the world, but the SM11 ranked 11th for full-shot spin in our testing.

The rankings looked very different once we switched to shorter shots.

The best wedge in our 2026 testing, the Mizuno Pro T-1 has excelled in every aspect we could put it through.

A leading performer in full swing, partial shots, and green-side testing, the Pro T-1 simply doesn’t have a weakness.

From the combined Full and Patrial shot metrics, Mizuno have achieved a first place for total performance, for dispersion, and a second place for spin. The consistency is incredible, and that’s saying nothing about the fantastic feedback.

The versatility of the sole and grind options is only topped by a soft feel that only one other model could compete with for our testers, and it’s a well-earned first place for Mizuno’s Pro T-1.

“Unbelievable feel makes this an easier wedge to play with, but the performance just backs it all up in every way you could want! It’s controlled, predictable, and grabs how and when I want, it’s not just spin for the sake of spin.”

While the Cobra King remained one of the strongest performers, the Mizuno Pro T-1 climbed from fifth on full swings to top spot around the greens, producing an average of 8,164rpm.

The Callaway Opus SP experienced the biggest shift in position. After ranking third for full-shot spin, it dropped to 15th in the pitch-shot test, highlighting how much wedge performance can vary depending on the type of shot being played.

It’s also worth remembering that spin is only one part of wedge performance. During our 2026 testing, we also assessed consistency, launch characteristics, and on-course performance, because the highest-spinning wedge won’t necessarily be the best option for every golfer.

But if generating maximum spin is your top priority, a handful of models consistently impressed across both tests. The Cobra King and Mizuno Pro T-1 were the standout performers, but the Avoda W2 and Mizuno Pro T-3 also finished inside the top five for spin on both full swings and pitch shots, making them among the most consistently high-spinning wedges in this year’s test.

Avoda Origin Irons and W2 Wedge What we say:
Avoda might be more known for their unique iron line up than anything else, but the wedge lines on offer from the new startup are just as interesting.

Available in W1, W2, and W3 models, there’s more versatility here than you might think from the looks. Each model is its own bounce/grind configuration, with the W1 the lowest bounce and leading edge, the W3 the highest, and the W2 sitting somewhere in the middle.

From a numbers perspective, the Avoda is by far the ‘spinniest’ wedge on the market from anywhere you want to play it. Combined with a surprisingly resistant green-side turf interaction, the Avoda wedge line is one we’d highly recommend for golfers that want to stop the ball quickly or play in softer grass types.

“This wedge has caught me slightly off-guard. I was expecting something basic because of how simple the labels are, but it just spins so much on full and pitching shots. Green-side, it really resists getting stuck in the ground.”
