Zalgiris will need to pay a buyout to Cedevita Olimpija for the Nigerian player, who signed with them this summer, per de Lucas. Akobundu-Ehiogu has a EuroLeague exit clause until the end of the month.
The center had a solid season with Manresa, as he averaged 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while shooting 79.1% from the field in 13 minutes of play in the EuroCup.
In Liga ACB, he showed similar numbers averaging 4.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks as he shot 81.6% from the field in 13 minutes on the court.
He also played for the Dallas Mavericks in the Summer League this year. In 5 appearances he accumulated 6.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1 block per game.
The Nigerian big man excels with his impressive vertical jump and lengthy wingspan (7’4″ or 224 cm) and has the title of the only player on record to touch the top of a basketball backboard.
