Laurie Daley is officially set to step away from his role as NSW Blues coach – and the news was confirmed by a Queensland legend.
The coach’s future had been the topic of much debate both during and after the State of Origin series, which saw the Blues produce a stunning upset.

But according to Paul Vautin, the 56-year-old has finished his second tenure in charge and will not coach NSW next year.
“He told me the other day he’s not doing it,” Vautin told the Fanatics podcast.
“I was really happy. He is one of the champions on earth as a person. Great fella and to see him win that and virtually go like this (up yours) to all his critics.”
Nine’s Danny Weidler reports that Daley is yet to inform NSWRL officials of his decision, but an announcement is expected soon.
“It would be an absolute shock if he actually was gonna coach NSW next year, everybody is expecting Laurie Daley to quit,” Weidler said on 9News Sydney.
“I spoke to Dave Trodden just five minutes ago and he has had no suggestion that Laurie Daley has quit as Blues coach, so maybe a little bit premature.
“Everyone is expecting Laurie Daley to quit his position in the near future and he will probably announce it on his own breakfast radio show.”
Daley led the Blues from 2013-2017 before his second stint at the helm.
He finishes with two series victories from seven attempts.
