Warringah will be missing two key names for their crucial Sydney Rugby Union 1st Colts rematch with Sydney University – even if their rivals won’t believe it until they see it.

The battle between second and fourth on the Heffernan Shield ladder will be live and free on KomunityTV from 11.50am Saturday.

Rats coach Dave Thomas said he told his opposite at Sydney Uni that powerhouse Nick Hill would be absent for the matchup, but wasn’t sure if Kodie Hawkins believed him.

“Unfortunately it’s true,” he said of Hill, who is overseas and will be absent for at least this round, if not next week as well.

“He he has a heavy impact and a big part for us demolishing their scrum.”

Also missing will be Sam Blank who has been overseas with the Junior Wallabies at the world junior championships in Georgia but has returned in a moon boot.

His twin Charlie, however, is expected to return to the field after a five week stint on the sidelines following a head knock.

But despite the under staffed line-up, Thomas has his eye on the main prize.

“We don’t want to be going into finals off losses. Nothing short of winning is acceptable,” he said.

Both Warringah and Sydney Uni are on track to make the playoff cut but there can still be movement on the points ladder in upcoming weeks.

Hawkins said Sydney Uni have plenty of motivation in the final run to finals after being knocked out in the first week of the playoffs last year.

Fuelling their campaign will be the return of Ed Baxter from the junior worlds championships and an assortment of players who have been touring in the US.

Last round Sydney Uni demolished Souths 62–47, Warringah had a huge 85–0 win over Eastwood, the Wildfires just missed out on victory against Manly, going down 38–40, Easts recorded an unbelievable 111–7 victory over the Two Blues, Randwick beat Wests 54– 21 and Gordon beat North 75–24.

Tom Hartman showed he is in great scoring form with two tries for Sydney Uni in their big win but the top try scorer was Isamu Naito with four off the bench.

Coby Toon scored three for Warringah in their big win with Archie Isherwood and Brodie Hitchman both scoring two tries each last round

Randwick lead the competition with just one loss in 15 games followed by Warringah, Easts, Sydney Uni, Manly and Gordon.

All of the top six have had 10 wins or more.
