Boxer Nico Ali Walsh said he was invited by Zuffa Boxing and TKO Group Holdings to discuss the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act and came away believing the sides were “trying to come to an agreement.” Walsh, the grandson of late boxer Muhammad Ali, appeared on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” and said Zuffa and TKO “know that the Revival Act is not going to pass as it stands.” Walsh, who opposes the Revival Act, noted in the meeting it felt like TKO board member Nick Khan “wanted to make changes.” On changes proposed during the meeting, Walsh said financial transparency “is absolutely essential.” Walsh: “That’s [Universal Boxing Organization] disclosures, that’s fighter pay. You’ve got to be able to show what money is being made. So financial transparency, free agency, length of contracts, rankings transparency. Those four are really the main ones that we really stuck to in the meeting, because if they listen to those four, we’ll be in a way better position. And fighters will be able to keep a lot of the rights that they have under the current Ali Act.” Walsh said Khan was open to all of the changes. Walsh noted the Senate is “going to put together a bill with the comments from both of our sides, and they’re going to come out with a revised version.” Walsh: “I don’t know the schedule for the government, but I do know that their revised version should be coming somewhat soon” (“The Ariel Helwani Show,” 7/28).
