Brisbane Broncos front-rower Corey Jensen is poised to announce his retirement from rugby league after a life-threatening health scare.

Sidelined since April 18 after suffering a pulmonary embolism, CODE Sports understands that Jensen has played his final match in the NRL following a blood clot ordeal in his lungs.
Regarded as one of the game’s hardest-working and most professional forwards, the 32-year-old has featured in 153 matches – 58 for the North Queensland Cowboys and 95 for the Broncos – since his debut in 2017.
A two-time Grand Finalist and a key figure behind the Broncos’ premiership win last season, the Bowen Seagulls junior was placed on blood thinners and underwent several tests in a bid to return to the field.
However, he decided to hang up the boots after months of investigations in a heartbreaking end to his nine-year career.
“He is a big part of who we are and we have to remember he has won a comp,,” Broncos coach Michael Maguire recently told the publication
“He is in the DNA of the organisation, he is the first here still and the last to leave, that’s Corey Jensen.
“You miss a player like that on the field, but off the field he has been helping the younger guys.
“He has been a great addition to this club, he is the ultimate pro.”
It is understood that a formal announcement will be made on Thursday morning at Broncos headquarters.
