Hasan Raheem is putting out a new album on the heels of his wedding. And while we now know that he did actually get married, a small part of us is still wondering if the entire shaadi wasn’t just an elaborate promo campaign. Sorry, Hasan, you’ve scarred us with that April stunt for life.
But assuming this one’s the real deal, the singer has entered “album mode.” Raheem dropped three separate reels on his Instagram grid, each with the hashtag album mode and cryptic single-letter titles: D, K and P. Together, the visuals form an eerie triptych — purple haze, muffled cityscapes, train tracks, neon lights — all paired with introspective voiceovers.
The first reel, P, features Raheem reflecting, “Uska bohat ehsaan hai mujhpe, upar wale ne hamesha mere gunahon pe parda dala hai” (I am in debt to Him, God has always kept my sins hidden). The second, K, layers in a woman’s voice telling Raheem to leave his vices behind if he wants to stay in her life. And the third, D, has a narrator telling him that the ultimate message of life is love, and “Hasan ka aakhri taaruf ye hai ke wo mohabbat kar sakta hai, or wo mohabbat mousool kar sakta hai (Hasan’s last introduction suggests that you can love, and that you are capable of receiving love).“
With the themes introduced to us, it seems his next album, whatever it’s titled, might explore spirituality, intimacy and self-reflection.
The last time Raheem released a full-length album was in 2022, when he came out with his debut LP Nautanki, for which he had a country-wide tour. After that, he released a collaborative EP titled Maybe It’s Love in 2023, which featured the hit song ‘Wishes’.
In between, Raheem kept fans fed with singles and collaborations that expand on his signature style — a breezy mix of R&B, indie-pop and understated hip-hop influences.
His music tends to float somewhere between confessional and flirtatious, all delivered with the laid-back charm that has made him a cult favourite.
The teasers for this album, however, suggest something moodier, more vulnerable, and perhaps more mature. Whether that comes from married life, evolving artistry, or simply a knack for keeping fans guessing — we’ll have to wait and see.
