Wayde Egan had thought he crossed the stripe in the 18th minute, but was pulled up by the bunker for a double movement.

Phil Gould exploded in commentary, stirring up outrage over the questionable call.

“Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish,” said Gould.

“That’s been a try for a hundred years.”

Egan’s elbow clearly hit the ground, but there was minimal evidence of a second effort according to Gould.

“The viewers at home are throwing rocks at the television,” he said.

“It’s ridiculous.

“You’re making the game too hard.”

Warriors coach Andrew Webster also voiced his frustrations in the Round 20 post-match press conference.

“I know his elbow hit the ground, but he doesn’t promote the ball,” he said.

Webster criticised a separate ruling involving Knights winger Greg Marzhew after he threw the final pass for a Dane Gagai try.

“The Marzhew one, that looked like rugby union, not like rugby league,” he said.

“I thought those two calls were tough.”

Despite the controversy, the Warriors kept their composure. Down 15-14, young forward Leka Halasima regathered a charge-down from the Knights and streaked away for an incredible game-winning try.
