Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the ABC Family/Freeform college comedy “Greek,” and star Scott Michael Foster is on board for a reunion.
“I think they tried to do that a while ago on Freeform, and it fell through somehow. But yeah, I mean, I think I think everybody would be down,” Foster told PauseRewind’s Elizabeth Stanton. “I don’t want to speak for everybody, but I think everybody would be down if something came around for that. I would love to see it.”
The cast is still in touch, as are much of the crew, like Foster’s makeup artist who he reconnected with before sitting down for the interview. “We’ve been catching up today!”
Foster continued, “I can’t believe it’s been 20 [years]. It’ll be 20 years this fall since we did the pilot, I know that for sure. Which is just, I didn’t think it would everIt blows my mind. I can’t even speak. It’s crazy.”
He’s also in touch with much of the cast as well, like Jake McDormand, who will be the best man in Foster’s wedding to Carson Fagerbakke. “We’ve made lifelong friends. It’s my first big project, and it’ll always sort of be in my heart that way.”
Foster is also celebrating another anniversary with “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” which premiered 10 years ago on The CW.
The musical dramedy was a challenge, as Foster recalls “just having to do an original song every week,” adding up to over 150 original songs.
“That to me was the most impressive part of that show,” Foster said. “The music team of Jack [Dolgen], Adam [Schlesinger], and Rachel [Bloom] just every week coming up with like two to three original songs for a show. It’s hard enough to, if you’re a singer or in a band, and you’re trying to come up with like a catchy song. But these guys were doing it every week for four seasons, and it was justthat was the most fun, going in the booth and actually recording those original songs.”
“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” was sort of an off-beat rom com, but Foster is currently starring in something a little more conventional, but no less romantic, with the Hallmark limited series, “Paris is Always a Good Idea.”
Based on the best-selling book of the same name, “Paris is Always a Good Idea” stars Lacey Chabert as Chelsea, who travels to the City of Love with her coworker/rival/ally Jason (Foster) to secure a deal. While there, she begins to revisit past loves from her life at the urging of her family and a message from her late mother, leading her on a globe-trotting trip to Ireland, Spain, and France looking for a love that may just be right in front of her.
Foster is a fan of rom comes because “they’re fun. You don’t have to worry about what you’re gonna get. It’s like a warm blanket, right? It’s like a cup of cocoa. It’s fun and it has that feel good feeling.”
He continued, “I like doing them because on set you get to have fun with everybody. It’s not like we’re doing this really intense drama where everyone’s like you know method acting. You know we’re just we’re all there to have a good time, tell a fun story, and have fun while we’re doing it.”
The first two episodes of “Paris is Always a Good Idea” is on Hallmark+, with new episodes every Thursday through August 27.
