Avengers: Doomsday could deliver the MCU’s next iconic line. Anthony Mackie has teased that the upcoming MCU film will feature “more interesting” lines that could rival Endgame’s iconic banter.

The 2019 Marvel blockbuster featured a memorable moment between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). During the climactic battle, Wilson returns after Hulk reversed Thanos’ Snap and tells Rogers via intercom, “On your left.” The line referenced the duo’s running joke from 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, when Rogers first teased Wilson by saying, “On your left.”

In an interaction with Entertainment Tonight during the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, Mackie teased a special surprise for fans eagerly awaiting Doomsday. When asked if Avengers: Doomsday will feature another memorable line, the new Captain America replied, “We have new and more interesting lines coming.” Hyping up the upcoming Marvel film even more, the American actor added, “That was a little teaser.”

Anthony Mackie believes Avengers: Doomsday has dialogue fans will remember

In the recently released Avengers: Doomsday trailer, Mackie and Evans didn’t share any scene. However, they will certainly have screen time together considering the character dynamic they have. It was Steve Rogers who passed on the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson at the end of Endgame. While Mackie didn’t reveal which lines could rival their iconic moment, his comments confirm that the film appears to feature new memorable dialogue between them.

Apart from Evans and Mackie, the upcoming Marvel film will mark the return of Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU after seven years. However, he isn’t returning as the fan-favorite Tony Stark/Iron Man but as the menacing supervillain, Doctor Doom.

Other key cast members include Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, and more.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18, 2026.
