Jayden Campbell joins ABC Sport after Titans loss

Gold Coast five-eighth Jayden Campbell has joined ABC Sport after this afternoon’s poor 42-6 loss to the New Zealand Warriors.

The playmaker said the team will be upset with how they played today, after showing promising signs in the previous month.

Wasn’t good enough.

Warriors, they came to play.

They beat us at the start in the physical battle … we just weren’t good enough to catch back up.

It’s not a good representation about what we’ve been doing.

It was great.
Needed to bounce back, and I really thought we set it up in the first half.

FULL-TIME: Warriors 42 def Titans 6

The New Zealand Warriors have consolidated third place on the NRL ladder with an impressive 42-6 win over the Gold Coast Titans.

In front of a big crowd at Robina, the Warriors punished a sloppy Titans performance to score eight tries.

The Titans will be sweating on the fitness of young halfback Zane Harrison who limped off the field with five minutes left in the match.

75′ Titans halfback Zane Harrison limping off the field

It’s bad news for the Gold Coast.

Young halfback Zane Harrison has been helped from the field, with what appears to be a lower leg injury.

Harrison was running with the ball and passed to his right, before falling to the ground without appearing to be contacted by any Warriors defender.

69′ TRY: Te Maire Martin has a double for the Warriors

The Warriors have scored an eighth try, and this might have been the easiest.

Halfback Te Maire Martin threw a dummy pass, and Titans enforcer Tino Fa’asuamaleaui could do nothing by touch Martin has he passed by for the try.

ABC Sport’s Clinton Schifcofske was not impressed with the effort from the Titans defence.

It’s diabolical defence there.

64′ TRY: Te Maire Martin scores for the Warriors

The Warriors have another try.

A big line break from centre Ali Leiataua put the Warriors on the brink of the goal-line.

A six-again restart for offside ensured the Warriors would have a full set to attack the Titans in-goal.

A shift to the left is finished off by halfback Te Maire Martin, who sliced through the defence to score.

HT: Warriors 26 leading Titans 6

That was a clinical performance from the New Zealand Warriors.

The visitors scored five tries in the first half to earn a 26-6 lead.

The Titans struggled to hold onto possession, while six-again restarts hurt them dearly.

37′ TRY: Jacob Laban scores for the Warriors

A very poor error from the Titans has been punished.

Gold Coast second rower Arama Hau flat-out dropped the footy in a play-the-ball on his goal-line.

From the following set, halfback Te Maire Martin threw a dummy, then gave a pop pass to second rower Jacob Laban, who burst through a hole in the defence.

29′ TRY: Leka Halasima scores for the Warriors

A broken play from the Warriors has resulted in a try.

Attacking the goal-line, halfback Te Maire Martin ran the ball on the final tackle but was caught.

Martin then threw the ball in hope, like it was a basketball.

The Warriors pass twice to the left, and the ball ends up in the hands of lock Erin Clark.

The lock then kicks for the left corner — that was not in the game plan.

Left winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira leaps high and catches the Clark kick, then passes back inside to centre Leka Halasima for the try.

The Titans will be so disappointed by that.

Chanel Harris-Tavita converts the try.
