ROSEMONT, Ill. — It seemed like every dealer selling modern sports cards had at least one Michael Jordan card under a glass display case at the 2026 National Sports Collectors Convention.

Jordan would be a big draw no matter where The National is held, but considering he is the biggest local star for a show set in the Chicago suburbs, a local collector base further amplified his appeal.

2001-02 Upper Deck Michael Jordan Buybacks 97-98 UD #18 /10

Buyback autographs were very popular with collectors during the early 2000s, and since Upper Deck had a leading hand in that charge, company spokespeople like Michael Jordan had plenty of them. Jordan signed 10 examples of his 1997-98 Upper Deck base card, which includes a game-dated picture from Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.

1996-97 E-X 2000 A Cut Above #5

While this is far from Jordan’s most popular 1990s insert card, it still ranks highly among collectors. With multiple die-cut tips around the top and full bleed printing, A Cut Above inserts are difficult to find in top grades. But this BGS 9.5 example bucks the trend. It’s one of only 30 examples ever to receive the designation, and while the asking price is quite higher than this card’s all-time top sale ($32,400), it’s a card that has steadily climbed the ladder in recent years.

1986-87 Fleer #57

Collectors could find Jordan’s iconic 1986-87 rookie card in many grades — and at many places — throughout the convention, but this BGS 9.5 example grabbed some extra attention. Always a crowd pleaser, high-grade examples of Jordan’s rookie — especially when perfectly centered — will never get old.

2003-04 Ultimate Collection Signatures Gold #MJ /23

Once again, the asking price for this Jordan doesn’t really reflect recent market activity, but it’s still a clean post-retirement option with plenty of scarcity. Jordan only signed 23 of these hand-numbered cards, and this BGS 9.5 example is among the top graded options out there. There is not a recent comp on the card in this grade, but a Pop 1 BGS 10 example recently sold for $336,000.

2009-10 Exquisite Collection Autographed Dual Patches #ADJJ /23

Hailing from the last year Upper Deck issued licensed Exquisite Collection basketball cards, this quad patch, dual autograph card of Jordan and LeBron James is stunning. That’s especially true for the three-color patch inside the “M” window on Jordan’s side of the card. While the asking price does not align with recent sales, it’s still a gorgeous card that would instantly become the centerpiece to many collections.
