But for the fifth time this Games, Aussie coach Stacey Marinkovich has gone with the same starting seven – not rewarding the repeated good form of star Cara Koenen.

“I think Koenen should have got the start in GS,” Aussie great Kim Green said.
“She brought such versatility in the dodge.
“Getting them (England’s defenders) on the move is going to be important.
“They’ll be pretty devastated and damaged from yesterday.”
And it was a “fearless England” that got the first break in the match as the Glasgow crowd erupted.
“It feels pretty flat,” Aussie great Cath Cox said of the Diamonds both on and off the court.
With the same Kiwi umpires from yesterday’s semi final loss, again it was Aussie defender Courtney Bruce drawing early attention.
Play was stopped midway through the term as both she and opponent Liv Tchine were spoken to by Gareth Fowler.
But down the other end, the Roses duo of Fran Williams and Halimat Adio were copping the same treatment.
“Players, you both need to come off,” umpire Ken Metekingi said.
A few loose balls into Tchine gave Australia the opportunity to shift the momentum – and as a result changes came for England.
Sasha Glasgow came on at GA with Lois Pearson shifted to WA.
“It’s back to the way the Aussies play – quick and short and sharp,” Cox praised.
“And it was missing yesterday against Jamaica.”
By the first change, Australia were leading 19-11.
STARTING SEVEN:
AUS: GS Garbin, GA Austin, WA Watson, C Moloney, WD Price, GD Weston, GK Bruce
ENG: GS Tchine, GA Pearson, WA Shaw, C Carter, WD Allison, GD Williams, GK Adio
WOUNDED DIAMONDS NEED TO RESPOND
For the first time in history, Australia won’t feature in the gold medal match after netball’s introduction to the Games back in 1998.
Vice-captain Kate Moloney says the Diamonds’ eyes remained on still medalling at the Glasgow Games – and avoiding a disastrous fourth place finish.
“We know that at our best we can beat anyone,” she said after Saturday night’s loss.
“We’ll come out even stronger.”
Despite the semi final loss, coach Stacey Marinkovich has once again opted for the same starting seven to take on the England Roses.
Bronze medal opponents England are hoping to avoid a consecutive fourth place finish – as they did in 2022 against New Zealand.
At the time it was a fall from grace from what had been the reigning Commonwealth Games champions after their shock gold medal success in 2018.
But the Roses are battling to find the right balance in their line up in Glasgow with young Ella Clark – a last-minute addition to the squad as injury cover, struggling for court time.
The Diamonds and Roses have already met this tournament with Australia taking a comfortable 66-47 win during the Pool stages.
But that form counts for nothing – as shown by Jamaica in their upset win over the Diamonds in last night’s semi final.
It’s worth noting the same umpires from Australia’s semi final loss to Jamaica will be in charge of the bronze medal decider – something Marinkovich noted in her pre-match address.
“We were penalised heavily yesterday,” she said of the 86 penalties.
“We want to show we can adjust.”
