Horrific footage has captured the moment a man was reversed over by his own vehicle after he confronted a female carjacker.
The disturbing CCTV footage shows the 68-year-old man yelling at the thief to “get the f–k out” of his car before she slams her foot on the accelerator and backs over him in the driveway of his Heidelberg West home.
The man is left slumped on the kerb and another woman can be heard wailing after she rushes to help him.
The Herald Sun has chosen to show the distressing footage, which was provided by traumatised neighbours, to illustrate the sickening reality of crimes being perpetrated daily across our suburbs.
Locals have described the “graphic” aftermath as they ran out of their homes to find their “adored” neighbour lying bloodied in the street.
Kim Tripitiris, said her partner performed CPR on the man – known by neighbours as George – until paramedics arrived.
“His mouth was full of blood. We were picking up teeth. It was pretty graphic,” Ms Tripitiris said.
“It was horrible. It really was. I wish I’d never see that again.”
Ms Tripitiris said George is a much-loved member of the neighbourhood and the community is devastated by the incident.
“He’s a really good neighbour and is adored by the community around here,” she said.
“We love George around here. He’s very important to us, and we need him back.”
It is understood George, had arrived at his Blackwood Parade home about 7.30pm on Saturday night, leaving his car in the driveway with the front door open.
Footage shows a woman walking on the opposite side of the street before she stops and crosses the road.
She appears to look around to see if there’s anybody nearby then gets into the car.
George and another woman then confront the carjacker, screaming at her to get out of the car before she reverses into George at speed and drives over him the flees the scene.
George remains in a critical condition in the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he is being treated for serious upper and lower body injuries.
No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
