A few hours ago, NHL insider Jeff Marek made an appearance on the Daily Faceoffs’ The Sheet podcast where he said, “I don’t think you’re gonna see any players of the Stars go on record…but I’m of the firm belief that there are some guys that were pretty upset about this…”NHL insider Jeff Marek added, “I shouldn’t say I believe, I know this.”As per reports, it seems many are upset that had Jason Robertson signed a contract extension with the Dallas Stars sooner, then the team could have avoided moving center Mavrik Bourque and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 third-round pick.But that’s not all; to prepare for Jason Robertson’s potential cap hit, the team was also prepared to trade for Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Zach Werenski from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a blockbuster exchange with Thomas Harley.With Zach Werenski exercising his no trade clause, it could have affected his relationship with the Dallas Stars.

Amid rumors of teammates being upset with Jason Robertson, the Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill has denied the situation completely.Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill weighed in on the situation as he said, “I’ve found, in the past, players in their moment are very invested in it, but when it’s somebody else, they’re supporting that player, and they understand the circumstances because they’ve been through it themselves…”Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill added, “They understand the situation. Players have been talking to Jason. It’s not a situation coming into the dressing room. We don’t have to worry about that.”Back on Wednesday, Jason Robertson also opened up about the drama as he said, “Not everything on the Internet is real. People do things to try to grab attention or whatnot. All the things that matter is the opinions of people around me – obviously, the organization, my agency, my friends and everything else is kind of just nothing really…”The star player added, “[My teammates] respect [my] privacy and what [I’m] going through. During the summer, it’s a little easier to zone out and be private. Everyone knows it’s a business.”
