Kentucky alumni squad La Familia hosts Davis Steel with the $2 million, winner-take-all prize on the line on Sunday

La Familia, a Kentucky alumni-based team, plays in its first championship game in The Basketball Tournament on Sunday when it hosts Davis Steel at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky, for the $2 million prize awarded to the winner. Davis Steel, formerly known as Eberlein Drive before forming a corporate partnership for the 2026 tournament, plays in its third championship after losing in 2018 and 2025. La Familia reached the semifinals of the tournament in 2024 and is 4-1 while Davis Steel comes in at 4-0.

Davis Steel capped a stunning comeback to beat The Mecca 71-69 in Las Vegas on Thursday to win the open division bracket, scoring the final seven points of the Elam Ending to reach the target. Terrell Brown capped the late run with a 3-pointer to end the game. Gabe York finished with 16 points and six assists while Anthony Clemmons and DJ Rodman dropped 13 points apiece.

La Familia had an easier time on Wednesday night, beating Kansas alumni squad JHX Hoops 78-65 in Lexington. Archie Goodwin went off for 28 points, with Willie Cauley-Stein and Darryl Morsell adding 10 points each. La Familia broke the game open in the third quarter, expanding a seven-point halftime lead to 21 entering the final period.

Goodwin leads the tournament, averaging 26.7 points, while York tops Davis Steel with 19.5 points per game. Davis Steel has hit a tournament-best 43.0% from 3-point range and ranks second at 79.8 points per game. La Familia scores 69.0 points per game while La Familia surrenders 67.6 points a contest, the third-best mark in the tournament.
