A NASCAR O’Reilly Series outfit may be looking for the next Supercars star to take stockcar racing, with Jordan Anderson noting he is open to the potential of finding the next Shane van Gisbergen for his growing squad.
Anderson’s eponymous team currently fields two full-time Chevrolets in the second-tier series for drivers Jeb Burton and Blaine Perkins, with a third rotating entry this year, which has featured Anderson himself, plus a cast including Ross Chastain and Hendrick Motorsports junior Rajah Curuth, amongst others.
In the past, the team has fielded cars and trucks for Tyler Reddick, Carson Hocevar, Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Erik Jones, Josh Berry, and Katherine Legge.
Next season, NASCAR is expected to return to the Sonoma, Watkins Glen and COTA road courses, with the Chicago Street Circuit and a reprisal of the Naval Base Coronado on the cards.
How these events fall against the Supercars calendar is yet to be confirmed.
“You look at what Justin (Marks) and Trackhouse did in bringing SVG over,” Anderson said on the Business of Motorsport Podcast.
“Is there a guy that’s running Supercars or maybe somebody’s not in our NASCAR world that we could bring in for a couple of races?
“Being able to do just something different, I think, is something that we would have a lot of interest in next year and keeping it going that way.
“We’re in the throes of already putting together ’27 – what does something like that look for your team?
“How do you decide what races you’re going to run?
“Having your full-time cars, having your part-time car, whatever that looks like.
“I think now we’re trying to start sooner than we have before – hey, let’s not wait until November; let’s start in July or August and get our driver stuff figured out.
“With the two full-time cars and the third car, the rotating car, the All-Star car, whatever you want to call it – I’ve had a lot of fun doing that this year, not just because I get to run some, but also having some different drivers in the car and giving other guys opportunities.”
