A.J. Brown dislocated his thumb at Patriots practice Monday, but seems to be fine. The first-year Patriots receiver continued to practice with the injury, then smiled and laughed when talking about it in an interview with NFL Network.
“It was tough,” he said of the injury. “I tried to get back into that flow state zone really quickly because, obviously, you’re going through some pain. Obviously the game is what it is. You’re gonna get bumps and bruises and you’ve gotta keep going.
“I know it’s practice. But I’m not coming out of practice. Your thumb’s out of place, you keep going.”
Brown said he dislocated the same thumb in college and continued to play the rest of the season. So it sounds like there’s nothing to worry about, Patriots fans.
Brown joined New England in the offseason via trade from the Eagles and projects as the No. 1 target for third-year quarterback Drake Maye on the heels of the Patriots’ trip to the Super Bowl last season. He’s a significant part of New England’s plans for a repeat AFC championship.
