Following his departure from Grimsby Town, Assistant Head Coach Shaun Pearson has penned an open letter to Mariners supporters.

After two spells as a player, more than 200 appearances in black and white, two unforgettable promotion-winning campaigns at Wembley and three years as part of the Club’s coaching staff, Shaun leaves Blundell Park having made a lasting contribution both on and off the pitch.

Before stepping away to spend time with his family and explore the next stage of his coaching career, Shaun wanted to share the following message with supporters.

To all Mariners supporters,

Saying goodbye to a football club that has meant so much to me is never going to be easy.

Grimsby Town has been a huge part of my life. From the moment I first pulled on the black and white shirt, I knew I was representing a club with incredible history, passionate supporters and people who genuinely care. It very quickly became home.

To have represented this club over two spells, making more than 200 appearances and playing my part in two promotion-winning teams at Wembley are memories that will stay with me forever.

After retiring, I was proud to continue my journey here as part of the coaching staff. It’s been a privilege to work alongside so many fantastic people and continue giving everything I could to this football club.

Leaving hasn’t been an easy decision, but I feel the time is right for me to step away, spend some quality time with my family and then explore new opportunities that will help me continue developing as a coach.

I’d like to thank everyone I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years – my teammates, fellow coaches, staff and volunteers – for their support, friendship and professionalism.

Most importantly, I’d like to thank you, the supporters. Your passion and unwavering backing have never gone unnoticed. Whether at Blundell Park or on the road, you’ve always been there, and it has been an honour to represent you both as a player and as a coach.

I’m leaving with nothing but pride in what we’ve achieved together and enormous respect for everyone connected with this football club. I’ll be watching on and wishing Grimsby Town every success in the future.
