Promoter Frank Warren has provided a positive update on Lee Reeves, the Limerick fighter who was hospitalised after his fight on Saturday.
Southpaw Reeves was taken to hospital after he lost in Dublin on Saturday to Gary Cully and his condition was later described as “critical but stable”, but Warren has revealed “progress” has been made by the 31-year-old.
“My team have been in touch with Lee Reeves team and he is making progress. That is what we’re hearing and thank the Lord for that,” Warren said.
“With Lee it’s all about time. Time hopefully can be a healer.”
Referencing British boxer Raven Chapman who also suffered a serious injury in Denmark last weekend, Warren added: “They’ve both had traumatic experiences.”
He also said of Reeves: “It is just about time. That is what it is and we keep praying they will be okay… and that Lee gets back to his family as soon as possible.”
The 31-year-old was stretchered from the ring after staying down in the aftermath of the final punch, and has remained in hospital since the fight.
