Success for New Zealand tennis players at ATP and WTA tournaments in Canada.
Michael Venus and Indian doubles partner Yuki Bhambri have won their first round match over the fifth seeds at the Montreal Masters.
They beat American Christian Harrison and Brit Neal Skupski 6-7(9), 6-4, (10-8).
Meanwhile Erin Routliffe and Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi have beaten the fourth seeds in three sets at the Toronto Masters women’s event.
The 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-5 win was over the experienced pair of Guo-Han-yu from China and Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic.
Routliffe and Sutjiadi won the title at Washington last week.
