Fans hoping to watch the men’s basketball gold medal game at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics could have to pay thousands of dollars for some of the best seats.
According to a ticket-price breakdown published by The Athletic, the most expensive ticket for the men’s basketball final is listed at $3,350, making it the third-most expensive event on the list and the most expensive sporting competition.
Only the Opening Ceremony, with tickets reaching $5,519, and the Closing Ceremony at $4,961 are priced higher.
Basketball tops all sporting events
The men’s basketball final comes well ahead of several other marquee Olympic events at the highest price level.
The most expensive tickets for women’s gymnastics and track and field are listed at $2,461, followed by men’s gymnastics at $2,264, swimming at $1,860, baseball at $1,718 and soccer at $1,305.
Basketball’s place at the top reflects the expected demand for one of the biggest events of the Games, which will be staged in the heart of NBA territory.

The high demand also comes after men’s basketball produced some of the most memorable moments of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Team USA survived a major scare against Serbia in the semifinals, erasing a 17-point deficit to win 95-91.
Stephen Curry delivered one of the greatest performances of his international career with 36 points and nine 3-pointers, while LeBron James recorded 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Americans then faced host nation France in an iconic gold-medal game, winning 98-87 to secure a fifth consecutive Olympic title.
France cut the deficit to three late in the fourth quarter before Curry took over, hitting four 3-pointers in the final minutes and finishing with 24 points on eight made triples.
Those two games became defining moments of the tournament, with Curry combining for 60 points and 17 made 3-pointers across the semifinal and final.
