Sydney has one foot in a home qualifying final after destroying Port Adelaide at the SCG on Saturday.

It’s not locked in yet, but after the Swans’ 97-point win over the Power, and with matchups against Essendon and North Melbourne coming, they’ll be hard to beat for second.

It was a nervy start before the Swans crucified the visitors in the second term, kicking nine goals to two to quickly put the result beyond doubt.

Errol Gulden overcame a head knock in the third quarter to play a starring role, collecting 39 disposals, 605 metres gained and a goal.

Charlie Curnow kicked 5.2 from just 11 touches, while Chad Warner booted three majors from 25 touches.

YOUNG SWANS SHOW PROMISE

With a few big guns out of the side, a couple of Swans youngsters caught the eye on Saturday.

In the absence of Brodie Grundy, ruckman Will Green flashed some promising signs in his AFL debut.

A nifty kick, some composed ball-handling and now a forward-50 mark impressed observers in the first half.

He couldn’t finish with a goal, but Green palmed off opponent Jordon Sweet to mark deep in attack.

“He’s getting better and better!” Dwayne Russell exclaimed.

Jordan Lewis added: “He’s been clean. We’ve spoken about a (good) kick and a handball, and now a mark.

Russell joked: “(Brodie Grundy) might not get back in!”

Up forward, meanwhile, Dattoli kicked his first AFL goal in his fourth game.

Injected into the team with Malcolm Rosas dropped and James Rowbottom injured, the emerging Victorian has a chance to solidify a spot in Dean Cox’s finals side.

“He’s been cruelled by injuries, this young bloke. But he’s shown a little bit of sharpness today, and a little bit of entertainment,” Gerard Healy said.

The Northern Knights product was the 22nd pick in the 2024 national draft.
