The AFL witnessed a comical moment on Saturday evening as an apologetic Essendon star wiped out a cameraman.
Geelong’s victory over the Bombers was all but secured by halftime as the Cats raced into a 69-16 lead.

Essendon fought back late on to avoid a heavy defeat, eventually losing 117-50 at Kardinia Park.

But one Bomber did suffer a rather embarrassing moment towards the end of the third quarter.
Youngster Archer Day-Wicks, 20, was desperately reaching for a high kick when he tumbled off the side of the pitch.
Unable to stop his momentum, the Essendon star then clattered into the cameraman — who was sat on a stool filming the game.
Fox Sports’ live coverage cut to the cameraman’s view just as Day-Wicks tumbled into him.
As the camera operator was composing himself, the Bombers star could be heard saying: “Oh f**k, sorry mate.”
The cameraman appeared to see the funny side of it, smiling as the broadcast showed him immediately returning to the job at hand.
When the clip was shared on social media, Fox Footy said: “When you’re trying to make the highlight reel… but accidentally flatten the cameraman instead.
“Thankfully, all OK — and the Bomber was quick to apologise!”
Meanwhile, Geelong’s win comes at the end of a tumultuous week for the Cats — who have been at the centre of one of the biggest AFL scandals of the season.
On Thursday, it emerged Geelong had reached a unique agreement for a player to protect itself from potential future legal action, with the player assuming all legal responsibility for any brain injuries he receives in future.
It was later confirmed the individual in question was defender Jake Kolodjashnij.
The Cats said Kolodjashnij could continue in 2024 only if he signed the agreement assuming full legal risk for any further head trauma.
The player signed the waiver in a bid to extend his career, which would protect the Cats and medical staff from future legal action.
Former Geelong president and current AFL Commission chairman Craig Drummond has apologised for “the mistakes made in a very complex situation” as financial sanctions were floated in relation to the AFL concussion waiver scandal.
Drummond excused himself from any involvement in potential sanctions around the saga, but conceded the club went “too far” in the unbelievable waiver it put to Kolodjashnij.
