Saint Kilda have suffered injury heartbreak with Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Brad Hill both forced off during their 106-62 loss to Carlton.

Wanganeen-Milera, 23, pulled up clutching his left hamstring just minutes into the first quarter at the Marvel Stadium on Sunday night.

The Saints star re-emerged to sit on the bench with his leg strapped up, only to watch on as Hill suffered a similar fate.

While contesting for the ball, he fell to the ground holding his left knee.

He too was forced to trudge off the field in yet another blow to coach Ross Lyon’s hopes of reaching the finals.

When Wanganeen-Milera went down, Fox Sports caller Matt Hill said: “Oh, he’s pulled up! He’s pulled up! Saints fans don’t want to see that. That’s a shocking sight.”

Before Demons legend Garry Lyon added: “That’s the wildcard story right there, as he walks off the ground… no footy fan likes to see this.

“That’s your old-fashioned hamstring. That’s no good at all. You can feel the crowd, here — the air’s gone out of it from a St Kilda point of view. “

Wanganeen-Milera was almost immediately ruled out of the rest of the game, before Hill hit the deck as their injury crisis erupted further.

St Kilda suffer a second injury concern within minutes

Lyon said: “Hill hasn’t tried to get up; that’s the worry… the challenges keep coming for St Kilda; that’s probably their second-best ball user off the ground now.”

While Cam Mooney reacted: “He’s pointing at that left knee… like he knew something happened.“

And Jonathan Brown simply said: “Shocking luck.”

St Kilda’s next game comes against bottom of the ladder Richmond on Saturday, before they finish the regular season against Gold Coast.

The Saints have not made the finals since 2020 when they lost to Richmond.
