SUPERCARS has swung a change to the degree to which it will reduce fuel tank capacity at the Enduro Cup and Finals Series events.
Supplementary Regulations released for next month’s AirTouch 500 at The Bend show that capacity for the final five rounds of the season will be 127 litres.
That differs from the usual 133-litre figure in play during the Repco Sprint Cup.
Supercars last year initially listed 118 litres as the enduros/finals capacity before upping that to 121.
“By adjusting the fuel capacity, we’re encouraging teams to be creative in how they structure their stints,” the category’s chief motorsport officer Tim Edwards explained at the time.
“It adds complexity to strategy, opens up opportunities to pass through pitstops, and keeps the racing alive right to the final stint.”
V8 Sleuth understands the increase now to 127 is due to the higher consumption rate associated with the new-for-2026 fully renewable fuel blend being used.
The increased minimum lap percentage that each driver must complete in an enduro will remain at 37 percent, having sat at 33 percent prior to 2025.
That means both drivers of a car must turn at least 54 laps in the 147-lapper at The Bend, and at least 60 laps in the 161-lap Great Race at Mount Panorama.
