ASVEL officially signed NBA champion and Australian legend Patty Mills for the 2026-27 season, reuniting the veteran guard with former Spurs teammate Tony Parker in Villeurbanne.

The 37-year-old arrives in Villeurbanne carrying nearly two decades of experience at the highest level, including an NBA championship and an extensive international career with Australia.
Mills was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the No. 55 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft after two seasons at Saint Mary’s. He began his NBA career in Portland before joining the San Antonio Spurs in 2012.
Mills reunites with Tony Parker after Spurs championship run
Mills spent the defining stretch of his NBA career in San Antonio, playing 10 seasons for the franchise and establishing himself as one of Gregg Popovich’s most trusted guards off the bench.
His biggest team achievement came in 2014, when he helped the Spurs defeat the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.
Mills played an important role in that championship series, averaging 10.2 points while shooting 56.5% from three-point range across the Finals.
His move to ASVEL will now reunite him with Tony Parker, his longtime Spurs teammate and current ASVEL head coach and president. The pair shared the floor for several seasons and lifted the 2014 championship together.

By the time Mills left San Antonio in 2021, he ranked second in franchise history with 1,220 made three-pointers, trailing only Manu Ginobili.
After leaving the Spurs, Mills continued his NBA career with the Brooklyn Nets before later playing for the Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, Utah Jazz, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Mills’ legacy extends well beyond the NBA.
He has represented Australia at senior level since 2007 and became the youngest Australian basketball player to compete at the Olympics when he appeared at the 2008 Beijing Games.
Mills went on to appear in five Olympic Games through Paris 2024, establishing himself as one of the most recognizable figures in Boomers history.
His signature international performance came at the Tokyo Olympics, where he led Australia to its first-ever men’s basketball Olympic medal.

Mills produced 42 points and nine assists in the bronze-medal victory over Slovenia, completing a tournament in which he averaged 23.3 points, 6.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds.
He also remained Australia’s offensive leader deep into his career, averaging 18.6 points at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and 16.5 points at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
