Kane Cornes has hit out at some sections of the media over their coverage of Geelong Cats’s waiver scandal involving Jake Kolodjashnij.
The pundit dismissed claims the saga takes top spot in terms of worst scandals to hit the AFL.

Some have suggested Geelong’s behaviour rivals the salary cap cheating or Essendon’s drug-cheating saga.
Cornes feels many are guilty of overreacting with their response, labelling it “ridiculous”.
“I can’t believe it. It’s been a race to who can be the most outraged,” he said on Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters.
“It seems to have got more severe as the days have gone on…it’s ridiculous.
“I certainly don’t link it to the Essendon drug saga. I certainly don’t link it to salary cap cheating.
“So no, I don’t compare it to Essendon and I don’t compare minor issues to salary cap cheating.”
Asked which outrage he was speaking about, Cornes said: “The whole thing.
“Let’s sack everyone – who can sack someone first because of a minor issue that they didn’t lodge with the AFL that the player was happy to sign.
“Let’s compare it to drug taking and link it to massive salary cap cheating scandals – what are we doing?”
Cornes’ rant comes after details of Geelong’s controversial contract with Kolodjashnij were leaked by Channel 7.
It was revealed it contained a “direct replica of the approved clause used for another player’s return” to a state league back in 2021.
The report claims the letter Geelong sent had “near-identical wording” to the contract approved by the AFL five years ago.
