Bill Bridges is among the players born on April 4.

With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including four leap day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.

Below is the most notable NBA player born on April 4.

Bill Bridges (1939)

Bridges is one of seven New Mexico natives to make it to the NBA and he is easily the most accomplished of that group. The 6-foot-6 power forward was selected 32nd overall in the 1961 NBA Draft by the Chicago Packers. He sat out that year to play elsewhere but was traded to the St. Louis Hawks ahead of the 1962-63 campaign. That move turned out to be a successful one, with Bridges making three All-Star appearances over the next decade with the Hawks.

Bridges recorded double-double averages in points and rebounds in each of his final seven seasons in Atlanta, from 1964 to 1971. Bridges played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors after that, eventually retiring in 1975. That was his one and only season with the Warriors, winning a title with them in his final season. Throughout his 13-year career, Bridges averaged 11.9 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
