SUPERCARS regular Macauley Jones gained a whole new level of appreciation for his father’s racing vintage after dabbling in a BMW SuperTourer.

The #96 Pizza Hut Camaro driver recently headed to Winton to turn laps in Trevor Sheumack’s 1993-model BMW.

There is a certain irony to that given how Brad Jones was an Audi stalwart, including using an A4 Quattro to win the Australian Super Touring Championship in 1996 and 1998.

“Actually it was a really interesting conversation, to tell you the truth,” Brad said of his debrief with Macauley.

“He has a lot more respect for his father after having a squirt around in one of those.

“It was just a little bit before my time… but he couldn’t believe how hot it was inside the cabin.

“He really enjoyed it and it was interesting for me for him to get that opportunity as well.”

Jones Jr is one of 20 drivers to have recorded a top five race result in this year’s Repco Supercars Championship, and is expected to drive on next year when Brad Jones Racing switches from Chevrolet to Toyota.
