EastEnders is soon to be losing another member of the Carter family as a character has been confirmed to be leaving the BBC soap.
After Linda Carter star Kellie Bright’s shocking exit was announced earlier this month, her character’s son Johnny, portrayed by Charlie Suff, is now following.

Suff, who’s been playing the role of Johnny since 2024, will leave Walford behind, a spokesperson for the soap told Digital Spy: “We can confirm Charlie Suff will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Johnny, who was previously played by Sam Strike and Ted Reilly before Suff was cast in the role, is the son of former Vic owners, Linda and Mick. The character played by Danny Dyer was presumed dead in a tragic drowning accident following his wedding to Janine Butcher back in 2022.
With Linda and Johnny soon to be gone, there will be no Carters left in Walford in what feels like the end of an era for the series.

Details of the two characters’ exits remain under wraps for the time being, though Bright teased that producers Kate Oates and Ben Wadey have developed an “exciting storyline” leading up to her final scenes.
“EastEnders has been my home for thirteen years and I have absolutely loved being part of the show, but I have decided that it is now the right time for me to say goodbye,” Bright shared through the soap’s Instagram page.
“I made the tough decision over a year ago, and after discussing this with Kate Oates and Ben Wadey, they asked me to stay on to be part of an exciting storyline they had planned, and I happily agreed to extend my stay.
“I will miss my friends and colleagues hugely, but I am looking forward to my next chapter and spending more time with my wonderful boys.”
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
