Idaho four-star Berkley Jones announces commitment to Oregon State women’s basketball

Oregon State women’s basketball has its first commitment in the Class of 2027.

Berkley Jones, a four-star recruit from Eagle, Idaho, announced her commitment to the Beavers on Monday.

Jones ranks as the No. 67 recruit in the class, according to the SportsCenter Next 100 rankings. She committed to Oregon State over offers from several Power Five institutions, including BYU, Kansas, Stanford and Oregon.

Jones stands at a listed 5-foot-10 and primarily plays small forward for Eagle High School, though she’s a likely candidate to slide to shooting guard collegiately. The Idaho Press named her the 2025-26 Girls Basketball Athlete of the Year and she is a two-time all-state first team selection.

Eagle won the Idaho 6A state championship last season, with Jones leading the charge.

She averaged 22.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists as a junior, according to MaxPreps. Shooting 60% from the floor and 47% from behind the 3-point line, Jones scored 25-or-more points in a game nine times and posted seven double-doubles. She owns Eagle’s single-game scoring record too, dropping 42 points on Rocky Mountain High School in a tournament semifinal matchup.

Beavers, Scott Rueck keep building through preps ranks

As the women’s college basketball landscape shifts more and more to transfer portal-based recruiting, Jones’ commitment to Oregon State is the latest addition to Beavers head coach Scott Rueck’s evident desire to build through the high school ranks.

The Beavers’ four-deep class of incoming freshmen is loaded with talent.

Taylor Young, a guard from Central Point, Oregon, led Crater High School to the 5A title last season and smashed the 5A tournament scoring-record with 85 points. She ranks as the top recruit in the state and the No. 83 player on the SportsCenter Next 100 recruiting rankings for the class of 2026.

Maggie Warpus is a 6-foot-2 forward who won New York’s Class B Player of the Year last season. Warpus averaged 21 points per game for Chenango Forks High School and led the team to a state semifinal berth.

Ashley Uusitalo was a Tacoma News Tribune all-state first-teamer and league MVP for Lake Washington High School in Washington las fall. She broke her school’s three-point record, splashing 133 from behind the arc. Uusitalo ranked as the No. 4 player in the state, according to Prep Girls Hoops.

Evelini Smith ranked as a top-30 player in Northern California, according to NorCal Preps. The 6-foot-4 wing has inside-outside versatility, shooting 45% from the floor and 34% from deep. As a senior, she helped lead St. Mary’s High School to a top-25 ranking in the state.

From the international ranks, the Beavers also signed French forward Genesia Mayele and Ukrainian post Mariia Ignatchenko. Mayele will be a freshman for the 2026-27 season, while Ignatchenko is an incoming-junior.
