New Zealand international Deven Jackson has re-signed with Melbourne City for the 2026-27 women’s A-League season after helping the club complete a domestic double.
Jackson (28) has agreed a new one-year contract after making 24 appearances in all competitions during her first season with City.
The 11-cap New Zealand international helped City win the A-League Premiership before they added the Championship by beating Wellington Phoenix in the Grand Final.
Jackson operated across the front three and in midfield for head coach Michael Matricciani, establishing herself as a versatile member of City’s squad.
Her new deal takes her into a second season with the reigning champions and extends an A-League career which has produced 60 appearances.
Before joining City, Jackson spent two seasons with Canberra United, making 36 appearances and scoring six goals for the club.

City director of football Michael Petrillo said Jackson had made an important contribution during her first season with the Melbourne club.
“Deven made a really positive contribution in her first season with us and we’re pleased to have her continuing at the club,” Petrillo said in City’s announcement.
“She’s a technically gifted and versatile player who gives us quality across a number of attacking and midfield positions.
“We believe there’s still plenty more to come from Deven and we’re looking forward to seeing her continue to contribute to the team this season.”
Jackson said winning both domestic titles had made her first campaign with City a memorable experience.
“My first season at City was an incredible experience and to finish it as Premiers and Champions was really special,” she said.
“I’ve loved being part of this group, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to continue building on what we achieved last season.”
Jackson will also have another opportunity to play continental football, with City preparing for their third successive AFC Women’s Champions League campaign.

After a three-year break, she joined the Eastern Suburbs side that won the Women’s National League grand final in December 2022, scoring twice in their 4-0 win against Western Springs.
She made her debut for New Zealand in the international friendly against the United States in early 2023 but was not selected for the FIFA Women’s World Cup squad.
