Max Verstappen has ended speculation surrounding his Formula 1 future by signing a new deal with Red Bull through to the end of the 2030 season.

The four-time world champion has extended one of F1’s most successful modern partnerships, committing his long-term future to the team he has raced for since 2016.

It ends the possibility of Verstappen taking Oscar Piastri’s seat at McLaren.

“I am really pleased with the contract extension,” Verstappen said.

“We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again.”

“This remains the ultimate goal that all of us have been working towards and will continue to pursue.”

Verstappen joined Red Bull’s junior program in 2014 before being promoted to the senior team in 2016, famously winning the Spanish Grand Prix on his Red Bull debut.

He has since won four drivers’ world championships and 71 Grands Prix with the team, while helping Red Bull claim two constructors’ championships.

Despite speculation surrounding his future, Verstappen said remaining with the organisation was something he had always wanted.

“I have always said it: the team is like a second family for me and I feel very at home,” he said.

“To continue this journey with the same team that I have been with my whole career is really special and something I have always wanted to do.”

The new deal will keep Verstappen at Red Bull through 2030 as the team attempts to return to the top of Formula 1, with the Dutchman declaring he is looking forward to “fighting for more victories and competing for championships” in the next chapter of their partnership.
