Women’s basketball stars Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd have had a tight-knit relationship throughout their careers. They were teammates starring for Geno Auriemma and the UConn basketball program, ultimately winning a national championship together.

Then, Bueckers went off to the WNBA where she was the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Wings and won WNBA Rookie of the Year. The following year, Fudd joined her as the No. 1 overall pick by Dallas in the 2026 draft.

Now, they are once again teammates, but their relationship goes much deeper. Bueckers and Fudd have been dating since their UConn days, but have rarely spoken about it in the public.

After they became teammates in the W, Fudd was asked about her relationship with Bueckers, but Wings PR quickly shut it down. Eventually, Bueckers commented on the situation and made it clear that she had no interest talking about her personal life in the media. The couple has previously confirmed they are dating, and now the public gets some rare details about their relationship in a new documentary titled, The Dynasty: UConn Huskies, on Apple TV.

Paige Bueckers & Azzi Fudd Share Rare Insight On Private Relationship

The Apple TV documentary details UConn’s incredible run to the 2025 national championship, but also offers some rare insight into how their relationship began. Bueckers opened up about the instant spark between the two.

“Azzi ended up joining the team my sophomore year,” Bueckers said, via PEOPLE. “It kinda just meshed as soon as we met. She’s sweet, she’s genuine, she has a huge, caring heart. We kind of felt a spark a little bit different than what would just be considered a normal friendship.” Bueckers said that Fudd was instantly someone she could “confide in that’s understanding of what I was going through” during the basketball season.

Fudd also discussed the relationship, making it clear that it was no secret, but that they chose to keep things private outside of those who needed to know and who they were close to.

“Paige and I are a couple, and everyone close to us that was important knew, but it was kind of one of those things…it’s just, it’s private. Not a secret, but it’s private,” she said.

So while some in the media and from the outside looking in may want to or try to pry for more information, they aren’t going to get it unless Bueckers and Fudd are ready to spill the tea and let everyone in.

The three-part docuseries premieres on Apple TV on Friday, August 21.
