The carparazzi near Germany’s famed Nordschleife have captured a jaw-dropping development vehicle. Wrapped in blue-and-purple camo, this isn’t your standard Z9 GT. Believed to be gifted with the Xtreme suffix, the ultra-hardcore track version of the Chinese shooting brake takes performance far beyond executive wagon duties.

Engineered by Chinese giant BYD, the forthcoming model supposedly packs the very same 2,000 metric horsepower as the Z Di-Aero P2000+ supercar. If the most successful Chinese automaker of them all did make a case for 1,973 mechanical horsepower from three motors, the 2027 Denza Z9 GT Xtreme could easily smash the Nurburgring lap record for longroofs.

The spy photos indicate motorsport-grade functional mods from nose to tail, beginning with a redesigned front bumper with gaping lower intakes and tastefully sculpted brake cooling ducts. A carbon-fiber front splitter is also featured, as are large aerodynamic blades. These blades work in tandem with the other aero elements for increased stability at high speeds, and the rear bumper is also beautified with aerodynamic blades.

Moving along the profile, the track-focused intent becomes even clearer through seriously deep side skirts that run flush against the pavement. Their purpose is to channel air cleanly along the lower body and underfloor, and the generous side skirts also emphasize how low the car sits.

Stiffer suspension, lightweight wheels, and ultra-performance rubber also help it stand out from lesser versions of the Z9 GT. Peering through the side glass, you will notice a stripped cabin with an extensive roll cage and deep bucket seats. Equipped with yellow brake calipers, the development vehicle provides the most visual drama by means of a colossal rear wing.

Mounted on tall swan-neck uprights, the wing is reminiscent of proper endurance racers due to its oversized endplates. Spanning almost the entire width of the car, said aerodynamic upgrade certainly generates a serious amount of downforce over the rear end at speed.

Below, the rear bumper has been re-engineered to house a carbon-fiber aerodynamic diffuser with double elements and tall channels. The diffuser is so extreme that BYD apparently left no recess or flat surface area to mount a license plate. Testing right across the street from Porsche‘s go-faster partner is no coincidence, for Denza is targeting a stupidly impressive lap time.

The Manthey-prepped Taycan Turbo GT clocked 6:55.533 back in April 2026, making it the fastest series-production electric vehicle on the Green Hell. Given that it has more than twice the power and more downforce to boot, the Z9 GT Xtreme could very well show Porsche and Manthey that resting on one’s laurels is never a good idea in such a competitive segment and industry.

With the Z9 GT already priced to compete with the Porker, a track-focused version that could be sold in very limited numbers will surely cost a lot of money. Whether performance electric vehicle enthusiasts with deep pockets will be happy to spend that kind of moolah on a Chinese-built performance wagon, only time will tell.
