Fans of ITV crime drama Code of Silence have been given an exciting update, as filming on season two of the acclaimed series is now under way. ITV has also released a first look at Rose Ayling-Ellis back as Alison Brooks.
As the new pictures show, Ayling-Ellis will be joined by new cast member Jonah Hauer-King, best known as Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, as DS Daniel Henshaw.
Returning for season two are Andrew Buchan, John Bishop, Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, and Fifi Garfield.

Also joining the cast for the new episodes are Eastenders legend Jo Joyner and The Inbetweeners’ Emily Head, as well as Sophie McShera, John Hollingworth, and Sasha Desouza-Willock.
Season two will see Alison take on a new gripping case through six episodes, set two years after completing her forensic lip-reading training with the police. She will be called upon to assist with a high-stakes surveillance operation involving Ruby Dowling (Head), a woman caught up in a sophisticated money-laundering syndicate.
The synopsis continues: “After being arrested when illicit cash is discovered hidden in her car, Ruby is released on bail back into a dangerous world where she finds herself trapped between police scrutiny and ruthless criminals.
“When she becomes the victim of a brutal attack, DI James Marsh and his team – DS Daniel Henshaw, DS Ben Lawford and DC Lizzie Silver – are left searching for answers.”
Alison’s unique expertise will becomes crucial as she is tasked with decoding vital CCTV footage.

“But as hidden secrets begin to emerge,” the synopsis adds, “the case takes a disturbing turn, revealing threats far closer to home.
“With loyalties tested, trust beginning to unravel and dangerous criminals closing in, Alison discovers that uncovering the truth may come at a devastating personal cost – and could make her the next target.”
Ayling-Ellis said of the new series: “I am so happy to be back on set with the brilliant cast and crew that made working on the first series such a delight and I’m looking forward to welcoming new members of the team too.”
Show creator Catherine Moulton said of season two: “I’m thrilled to be bringing Alison back for a second series. Now she’s officially part of the police team she’s keen to make her mark.
“Faced with her first murder investigation, she struggles to balance her determination to uncover the killer with the limits of her new police role.”

Code of Silence season one was a huge hit with viewers, with 7.5 million tuning in to its debut episode. The show’s full box set went on to generate more than 20 million streams for ITV.
Critics were also full of praise for the series, with season one holding a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with TV Insider writing: “My only regret is that the absorbing Code of Silence ends after just six episodes. Thankfully, there will be more.”
Collider wrote: “Besides a handful of easily fixable stumbles, Code of Silence’s debut season cements itself as an instant classic: compelling, entertaining, and trailblazing, with Ayling-Ellis’ unmissable star turn as the best boon of all.”
Globe and Mail called the series “a unique twist on the traditional crime thriller”, adding: “It’s the strong performances, quick pace and creative visuals that make this one worth streaming.”
Code of Silence season 1 is available to stream on ITVX, while a release date for season 2 is yet to be announced.
