Apple TV documentary, “The Dynasty: UConn Huskies,” a three-part series that reviews longtime UConn women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma’s 40 years at the school will premiere Friday. The documentary is directed by Erica Sashin and Matthew Hamachek and “starts with Auriemma’s arrival at the school in 1985″ and culminates with the team’s 2025 national championship (HARTFORD COURANT, 8/15).
Each episode is over 40 minutes, with the series taking viewers “through Auriemma’s upbringing to his first years in Storrs and the Huskies’ first few national championships.” It explains why women’s college basketball’s “most iconic rivalry,” UConn vs. Tennessee, “blew up because of sideline tension” and “how hard Auriemma pushed his stars.” Members of the media and former players “help narrate each episode,” with interviews from Paige Bueckers, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Sarah Strong, Shea Ralph, Rebecca Lobo and Breanna Stewart (CT INSIDER, 8/18).
