The tool had been left following work inside the cabin to fix electrical issues with the #96 Supra.
It was captured by TV cameras departing the car at Turn 2, requiring officials to retrieve it between the back-to-back practice sessions.
The incident breached Rule D11.7.3, which states: “Each car must be completely free of all hoses, tools, team members and any other equipment at any time whilst the car is moving.”
BJR accepted the recommended penalty of a $500 fine.

The team received the same punishment at Ipswich 12 months ago after an oil bottle was left on its Jaxon Evans-driven SCT Motorsport entry and fell onto the circuit.
Friday practice ended with BJR drivers Andre Heimgartner, Cameron Hill and Macauley Jones 19th, 21st and 26th in the order respectively.
