Hilariously, the beloved Knicks forward shared an intriguing social media reaction to a report about his potential Knicks extension, which reportedly may not give him the maximum contract he could command.

“Darn was hoping for that 132! I’ll take 131 instead,” Hart said in his comment on an Instagram post.

Josh Hart not getting the max extension he can get from the Knicks?

James Edwards III of The Athletic recently reported that Josh Hart is not expected to receive the maximum contract extension he is eligible for from the New York Knicks, which is valued at $132 million in four years.

Instead, a three-year, $62M contract extension is being viewed as a “sweet spot” for both sides.

Hart has been extension-eligible for the Knicks since Aug. 10. He is currently playing under a four-year, $80 million extension, with the 2027-28 season being a team option.

He averaged 12.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.1 steals across 66 games for the Knicks this past NBA season, shooting an efficient 50.8% from the field and a career-best 41.3% from the three-point line. His do-it-all demeanor and hustle played a pivotal role in helping New York win the 2026 NBA championship.

It will now be up to Hart and the Knicks to finalize a new deal that benefits both sides as they prepare to defend their title next season.
