How are the Pies feeling watching this Blues riot?
After this performance Collingwood would be shaking at the knees . Good !
– Phillip
I’ll tell you what, Phillip, the Blues will back themselves to take it up to their old enemy next week.
The Pies have to be feeling a little nervy, particularly with Brayden Maynard and Scott Pendlebury set to miss the match due to injuries.
Talk about worst possible timing for the Pies.

Should Freo be concerned by this loss?
Do Fremantle need to be concerned how easily Carlton has scythed through them? They may well be Brisbane’s biggest challenger… and this performance has me worried that this golden opportunity may be let slip by the Purple Haze…
– Jeremy
Personally, I don’t think so Jeremy.
This was the classic final round stinker from a team that has way bigger things to play for.
It might be the kick in the guts they needed to tune things up before the finals get underway.

Blues heading towards big win as final minutes arrive
Carlton leading by a game-high 48 points now as we tick into the final five minutes.
Both teams in a little bit of a preservation mode.
The 118 points the Dockers have conceded are their most in a match since Round 1, 2025.

Ainsworth drills his third goal on the run
This is turning into a bit of a trouncing!
Ben Ainsworth closes in to 50m out and sends it hoke from just inside the arc.
Carlton leads by 42 points. This performance is reminiscent of what they did to Brisbane a few weeks back.

Ten minutes to go at Docklands Stadium
Isaiah Dudley’s first goal of the afternoon has trimmed Carlton’s lead back to 36 points.
It’s still technically doable for the Dockers, but it looks quite unlikely.

Evans has FIVE!
Wonderful pressure from Carlton in the middle of the ground as Talor Byrne hammers Matthew Johnson to force the turnover.
The Blues are out everywhere as they go forward.
Harry McKay takes a mark and hands the ball over the top to Frankie Evan,s who drills his fifth from inside the square.

McKay executes a long-range snap to perfection
It looks like we’re going to get the Carlton-Collingwood wildcard clash folks!
Harry McKay takes a good contested mark and then kicks truly from 35m out on a slight angle to give the Blues a game-high lead.
The Blues now out by 30 points, and they’re up to ninth on the live ladder.

Kemp sneaks it home from close range!
Carlton continues to have all the answers to Freo!
Brodie Kemp drills the easy set shot that time, but my oh my, he made the goal umpire work big-time on that.
Carlton by 24 points with 15:26 left on the clock.
Carlton now has 19 marks inside 50, which is the most Freo has given up in a game this season.

Jackson strikes early in the final term
The door is still ajar for Freo!
They finally win a centre bounce and it immediately leads to a goal for Luke Jackson, who starts the quarter resting up forward.
Carlton has a chance for a quick reply after a Jordan Clark kick-out is chopped off by Cooper Lord, but Lord misses the easy set shot from directly in front.

The Blues prance all over the Pony
We’ve got another stink brewing at Docklands!
Pat Voss absolutely steamrolls Harry Dean behind the play and then a few seconds later gets the ball inside 50, but he gets hammered in a wonderful tackle.
The Blues players have a long memory and they pile in from everywhere for a piece of Voss.
Once again, Mason Cox is in the middle of it all throwing some lusty jumper punches.

Cripps gives Carlton the quick reply!
The Blues have another goal out of a centre bounce!
It’s not super clean, but the Blues just surge the ball forward and it ends with Patrick Cripps hammering one home on the run from 45m out.
Carlton is now 12-2 in the clearances for the quarter. It’s an absolute slaughter.

Treacy with a much-needed goal for Freo
The Big Cohuna nails a set shot from directly in front to trim the margin to 17 points.
But the credit to this goal has to go to Hayden Young.
Young took the mark on the wing and decided to go into the corridor with an absolute bullet of a kick that opened everything up.

Evans continues his fairytale outing with another one
Francis Evans has been an absolute revelation under Josh Fraser!
Evans slots his fourth goal of the afternoon after a wonderful kick from Brodie Kemp to find him.
Evans is really good at scouting out empty pockets of space inside 50, he’s done it again there.
Sat 22 Aug 2026 at 2:54pmSat 22 Aug 2026 at 2:54pm
Voss threads the needle in response to Blues surge
Pat Voss is just one of those players that makes the easy look difficult and makes the difficult look easy.
He drills a set shot from virtually an impossible angle and boy is that a much-needed goal for Freo.
It comes after Ollie Hollands and Jagga Smith’s two goals in the space of minutes had the Blues out to a 23-point lead.
Sat 22 Aug 2026 at 2:23pmSat 22 Aug 2026 at 2:23pm
Frederick finally ends Fremantle’s goal drought!
A wonderful finish on the run from Michael Frederick and Freo has its first goal of the quarter with 24 seconds left!
The good news for the Dockers is that despite all of Carlton’s dominance, the margin is still just 11 points.
