There was a period in that first quarter where it looked like the Swans were going to run away with the game, but two successive goals from North Melbourne’s Paul Curtis and Jy Simpkin cut the lead to just seven points.
The atmosphere is difficult to describe; there is certainly vocal support for the Swans, but it feels like the crescendo already happened for the AFLW team.
It’s hard to judge whether this is a good crowd or not, as it’s a dead rubber on a Sunday afternoon. The fans who have turned out are desperate for the Swans to finish this season on a high, and for Charlie Curnow to confirm his Coleman Medal.
The full forward is on 66 goals for the year, an unqualified success in Sydney, can he kick even more today? We will see.
