Two women have spoken on social media about a pattern of physical and emotional abuse they say he subjected them to during relationships
Saul Adamczweski, currently of Insecure Men and formerly of Fat White Family, has been accused of domestic abuse, with two women taking to social media to share details of their alleged experiences with the musician.
Writing on Instagram last week, one woman said that she had a short relationship with Adamczewski, and that they would meet up in Paris. She said that while the first month of their relationship “was the only nice time we had together”, relations soured after she discovered she was pregnant.
Her account continued: “Saul has made it his duty to make me suffer. He has been violent, pushed me, thrown glass bottles at me, showered me with beer, chased me with a kitchen knife, insulted me, taken my passport from me, stolen my money and more, all while I had our baby.”
She also said that Adamczewski took money from her to fund the purchase of drugs, leaving her with little money for herself. She added that she left Europe in the third month of her pregnancy to be supported by her family and far away from her alleged abuser.
The woman shared screenshots of alleged message exchanges between herself and Adamczewski in which he appeared to use abusive and insulting language towards her. You can find those screenshots here and here.
The same Instagram user also took to her account to share messages she had received from another alleged victim of Adamczewski’s abuse, identified as Alexandra Scheja. In the message, she claimed that she has photos documenting abusive behaviour – encompassing “black eyes from his fists, bruises everywhere, scars, broken mirrors, lamps, even cameras” – carried out by the musician.
Scheja’s account continued: “Many times I’d be strangled on the floor over something as small as asking him to lower the music. My neighbours called the police and he was in jail, and got a restraining order from me and my street. Then when he got out, he did a podcast bragging about prison claiming he got into there for listening to Frank Sinatra too loud.”
Insecure Men were due to play at Green Man this past weekend, but their set didn’t go ahead. Representatives for the festival confirmed that Mary In The Junkyard played their slot on the Walled Garden stage instead. A planned November gig at Rough Trade Liverpool is also now listed as cancelled on DICE, the website used to sell tickets for events.
All of Insecure Men’s studio albums to date – including last year’s A Man For All Seasons – have been released by US label Fat Possum. The band’s name is no longer listed on the imprint’s dedicated ‘Roster’ page on its website. We have reached out to representatives of Fat Possum, and will update this story when we have a response.
