Adam Reynolds won’t get a farewell game with the Brisbane Broncos with injury meaning the veteran half-back’s NRL career has come to an end.
On Monday the Broncos confirmed Reynolds will not be available for selection for the remaining two NRL games against the Melbourne Storm and Bulldogs due to “ongoing injury concerns regarding his calves”.

“All NRL careers come to an end and unfortunately mine is today, I won’t be playing this week or next week,” Reynolds told Triple M on Monday.
“Obviously, all NRL careers come to an end and unfortunately mine is today. I won’t be playing this week, next week, or any finals.”
The 36-year-old has battled soft tissue injuries in the back end of his career and he failed a fitness test on Monday, bringing a sad end to a successful stint at the Broncos that saw him help break a 19-year premiership drought last year
“The left calf was giving me nerve issues, and then I had a little grade one strain in the right calf which has not bounced back as quickly as I would’ve liked,” Reynolds said.
“I trained today and thought I would be a chance to play one last home game… but it’s not to be.
“I felt pretty good out there… but I had some conversations with Madge and the medical staff and they were quite concerned with the limited training I’ve done in the past couple of weeks.
“I’ve had a great career…I’m extremely fortunate I get to carry some great memories moving forward.
“You want to play the game forever, and that’s us as professional athletes. That’s not reality.
“The reality is you get old, you get brittle, and you get sore, and at the end of the day you can’t keep competing forever. I knew this day was coming, and that I had to say goodbye at some stage and unfortunately that is today.”
Reynolds won the 2024 NRL Grand Final with the Broncos and was part of South Sydney’s premiership win in 2014.
He finishes his decorated NRL career with 323 games over 15 seasons, two premierships across two clubs and is the second-highest points scorer in NRL history with more than 2,500 points.
Reynolds joined the Broncos in 2022 after 10 seasons at the Rabbitohs and took over Brisbane’s club captaincy.
“I had a fair mentorship coming through and that’s all I’ve ever wanted to be towards younger fellas,” Reynolds said.
“Hopefully I’ve given them the opportunity to experience some great things that I have throughout my career.
“I would like to think that I’ve contributed to a fair few people in my time of playing rugby league.”
