Novotny could make his case for an NHL roster spot during training camp ahead of the 2026-27 season, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports Monday.

Novotny was selected by the Canucks with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, and he logged 34 goals and 31 assists across 58 regular-season games with OHL Peterborough last year. While he’s a bit of a long shot to ultimately break camp with the Canucks, the 18-year-old has strong physical traits that could allow him to make enough of an impression during camp to be in the conversation for an Opening Night roster spot.
