Riedel Communications has expanded its managed coach communications partnership with Scottish Rugby Union.
Now entering its third season, the collaboration equips Scottish Rugby’s training and match-day operations with Riedel’s SidelineComms Managed Service, a key part of the company’s RefSuite offering for professional sports communications.
Built around Riedel’s Bolero wireless intercom technology, the managed service combines coach and staff communications, referee microphone integration and dedicated service and support in one flexible workflow.

The deployment includes three Bolero antennas; 21 Bolero S beltpacks with push-to-talk headsets; three standard Bolero beltpacks with Bluetooth pairing for the head coach; and a StageLink Network Stream Adapter for intercom recording and referee microphone audio routing into in-game communications.
The managed service also includes system integration, remote support, off-season servicing, headset configuration and temporary system extensions. Tour-specific adaptations and a dedicated flight case help Scottish Rugby maintain a consistent communications set-up when traveling for international fixtures.
Riedel also supports the cabling infrastructure required to extend communications coverage from the pitch to the changing room and the coaching box in the gantry at Scottish Rugby’s home stadium, Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
‘Clear communication is essential’
Christopher Chapman, a performance analyst at Scottish Rugby, said: “Clear live communication is essential for our training and match-day operations, connecting everyone involved in performance and match-day support wherever they are working.
“With Riedel, we have a reliable solution that delivers excellent audio quality, supports dedicated staff groups and is intuitive for our team to use, especially in loud stadium environments.”
Riedel Communications programme manager Nacho Lee added: “Our SidelineComms managed service is designed to give elite sports organisations clear, reliable communications in demanding live environments, from training sessions to international competition.

“With Scottish Rugby, we are delivering an integrated, service-led solution that combines communications for coaches and staff with managed support as envisioned with our RefSuite offering. The result is a flexible system that is easy to operate, easy to tour and ready to scale with the needs of the team.”
On Stand 10.A24 at IBC2026, Riedel will showcase its Live Production Experience, which demonstrates the production chain from image capture and signal transport to live switching, replay, audio processing, monitoring, control, communications and delivery.
