Koen Mazoudier admits he was in a “dark place” earlier this year, but is back fit and firing as he eyes off a showdown with Jermall Charlo.
“I’m over the moon, but I need to be a lot better than that — it was a poor performance, but it was my first one in eight months,” Mazoudier said after his majority decision win against Sam Beck on Wednesday night.
“I’ve been in a dark place, the devil had me for a good few months at the beginning of the year. This is a new stage. We did a 16-week hard camp, so rolling that into someone like Charlo, my goodness.
“Get behind us guys, Australia vs USA. They dogged us, they were supposed to come here. We’ll get another win over there, I love the underdog story.
“Let’s go to his backyard and take it.”
