Burger lovers in Perth’s far northern suburbs could soon have another spot to grab a bite on the go, with plans lodged for a drive-through Grill’d restaurant in Alkimos.
The restaurant is planned for the corner of Marmion Avenue and Graceful Boulevard, near the Gateway Shopping Centre.
It would occupy the site where the iconic Alkimos beach huts stood before their demolition last year.
The development plans, valued at $2.24 million, feature a 1300sqm Grill’d with indoor dining and alfresco seating, plus a dual-lane drive-through.
If approved, the outlet would become only the second Grill’d drive-through in WA after the opening of the chain’s Wanneroo outlet last December.

Vehicle access to the restaurant is set to be provided through the existing shopping centre carpark. The project’s urban planners said the proposed layout had been designed to integrate with the wider area.
“The proposal forms part of the established Gateway Shopping Centre and will provide an additional food and beverage offering to support the growing residential catchment within Alkimos,” they said.
“The proposed access aisle will provide an alternative circulation route through the carpark, distribute vehicle movements more evenly, and reduce congestion and vehicle conflicts in this area.”

Seventeen parking bays will need to be removed to make way for the development, while 10 bays will be reinstated.
The restaurant is seeking to operate from 10am to 11pm and would employ about 54 people, according to the application.
Grill’d was founded in 2004 and now has more than 170 restaurants across Australia.
The burger chain opened its first WA restaurant in 2010.
The Alkimos proposal is now open for public comment through the City of Wanneroo until Thursday, September 3.
