Jersey Cricket’s head coach Neil MacRae has set his sights on the “ambitious” goal of reaching the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
The islanders are fresh off the back of drawing a two-match, 50-over series against Scotland A in Glasgow, which MacRae described as “exceptional” and “really competitive”.
Jersey lost the first contest by a single run on Tuesday with Scotland posting 301, and beat the hosts by 25 runs in the second warm-up match ahead of the ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup Play-off Qualifier in December.
Speaking on the chances of qualifying, MacRae told BBC Radio Jersey: “We’re definitely ambitious, and it’s what we’ve been working on all summer.
“We’re building a style of cricket we think is really attacking and should be exciting for spectators to watch.
“More importantly it will really put pressure on opposition sides, so that is what we will continue to develop.”
